Book Release Contest and Celebration! Huzzah!

Demon Night. Feb 5th.

That's a few weeks, ladies!! And Gentleman.

Imagine, if you can, that I am excited over the release of Meljean's latest Guardian book. It's true! Oh. You knew that didn't you? What you didn't know is that I'm most looking forward to YOU reading it. It's lovely. Just lovely. Much like the fair (and wicked smart) Meljean. In honor of the big day and you all getting to meet, know, heck, fall in love with the smoking hot Drifter and that Charlie Girl, I'm giving a virgin *gasp* copy away. Signed by Meljean! And if you are the lucky winner, I'll include an attractive Demon Night Book Mark signed by Ms. Brook (no S) as well. Isn't she swell to have agreed to do this?

So. You want one, right? Greedy buggar!

All you need to do to be selected to win this here contest is to tell me your favorite Colin, Hugh, Anthony, Michael or Lucas moment. Then, on Feb 5th (day of the release) I'll both throw a celebration and randomly pick a winner. I'll then send that lucky mo-fo this glorious giftie. Isn't it grand?

But wait, Lisabea, what do you mean by favorite moment? Well, I'm very glad you asked that important question, friend! My favorite Colin moment, which I forgot to include as number 13 in my top 10 list of Man Love Monday Moments because I was having a senior moment (at 42), is Colin vs. the Car Salesman. Heh. That Colin is so sly! And that salesman will never forget to bring an extra pair of pants to the office again. What a sticky situation he landed himself in. I've dealt with enough carsalesmen in my lifetime to appreciate Colin's rare gift.

You have 2 weeks (give or take cuz I'm tired and too lazy to actually look at a calendar. Sue me. But, uh, not really.), so if you haven't yet read Demon Angel, Demon Moon, Falling for Anthony, or Paradise, I say, "Hie thee to a bookstore/library/friend's house and grab thee a book!"

Yay!

Hmm, I take it you're a little excited? *G* Don't you just love the anticipation to when a favorite author has a book coming out? It's like your 21rst birthday rolling in on a great big chocolate carriage, filled with champagne and sexy alphas.

I'm thinking I need to try reading the first book in this series again. I tried, but honestly couldn't get into it. I'm not saying she's a bad writer by any means. I think I wasn't in the right mood at the time.

I love her blog though. Funny lady & we live in the same state...and city for that matter. :D

Sarah~I know! One year we left for vacation the day a major book I wanted was released. We were in Newark airport. I ran to the bookstore, but they didn't have it on THAT side of the airport and our plane was leaving. I trudged back to my husband. He says, "I'm getting a cup of coffee". So everyone is hanging around. No husband. People are boarding the plane. No husband. Finally, he shows up with 2 cups of coffee. And my book. :) Yay hubbie! You Rock!

Katie: Drifter. Mmmm. And someday, with absolutely NO pressure on Meljean, Michael? He's hot.

Bridget~ Meljean's books have a pace that are much different than many typical romances, but holy moly, the story, the characters, the dialog, the humor...sheesh. I'm a fan. And of course I'm totally ass over teacup for both Savitri and Colin.

Lisa, I am beyond gone for Michael's story. Forget about Hugh, Colin or Drifter, Michael is the man!!
He goes through Hell and back more times than I can count.
I may start my own harem of Meljean men. LOL

Woot! I have two weeks to devour Demon Angel and Demon Moon. :P

Ahh, that was so sweet of your hubby.

Wait, did I miss something? Where can Michael's story be found.

I fell in lurve with Colin during Demon Angel when they were fighting the Nosferatu and he was like, "but I'm extraordinarily handsome or something like that. I've got a whole bunch of crap piled in front of my shelves so I can't pull it out right now.

Do you want me to mention the contest on my blog?

lisabea said...

No. Sigh. No Michael story yet. That's my subtle way of putting the screws on Meljeans slender thumbs. Heh. I just like when he appears and his scary looking eyes go to glowy. I can't wait for his story.

Yup. Hook me up, babe, that'd be fabulous. I'm hoping that visitors notice my "Contest" info. Did you notice it?

Devon said...

I did notice it. Will post now.

I would love to see Michael's story. But I think we need to wait for it a bit. I'm a masochist. Not really.

Katie(babs) said...

Hey Devon, you me and Lisa can be Michael's girls. Much like Charlie's Angels bu Michael's Angels and our mascot will be Sir Pup!!

Don't enter me.

My favorite Michael moment (so far) is from DEMON NIGHT:

----

The odor of sulfur and rot hit Ethan just before he heard Michael’s melodic voice. “The humans whose bodies they possessed were dead.”

Ethan only had a second to meet the Doyen’s gaze, note the black wings and bronzed skin, his white toga stained gray with soot and dirt. Then Charlie slipped through the door, and wordlessly shook her head; she hadn’t been able to reach Jane.

Her eyes widened when she saw Michael, and her nose wrinkled.

Lilith didn’t hide her revulsion. “I guess that answers where you’ve been, Michael. You stink. And the smell is disturbing my puppy; he doesn’t have fond memories of Hell.”

Michael sighed. “Tell me, Lilith — who does?”

----

It cracks me up every time. Actually, I guess there is another scene with him in DEMON NIGHT, that I love better, but it is a huge spoiler. From DEMON ANGEL, it's when he's on the picnic table with Hugh (that sounds sexier than it is) and laughing when Hugh suggests recruiting Colin to the Guardians' cause. In DEMON MOON, it's his quiet moment when he's looking at Colin's paintings. Oh, and the dragon -- love that, too.

Poor guy. Starting with the book I'm writing now, things are going to unravel pretty quickly for him.

(Yes, I'm a tease.)

Katie(babs) said...

So, Meljean is Michael going to have his own romance soon? The poor guy needs some major love since he has been though Hell and Back. Maybe he needs a redheaded woman by the name of Kate to make him smile :)

lisabea said...

Redhead? I was thinking of a fussy, occassionally blonde, shortish, 40ish, New Englander.

No?

Katie(babs) said...

well, two are better than one. :)
And if this was an elloras cave book- heh heh.

Girls, girls! There's more than enough of Michael to go around.

(I wrote that with a totally straight face.)

Would that be m/f/f or f/m/f or f/F/m or f/M/f? Whatever it is, it'd probably be pretty hot.

My favorite Hugh moment happens about 100 pages into Demon Angel, so if anyone reading this hasn't read it yet, it includes some SPOILERS:

"No-"

He halted her denial with the soft press of his lips against hers.

This was almost what she'd been waiting for- a touch, given without coercion. Simply Hugh, without having to steal a kiss or bargain him into it . . .

"Lilith," he said. His hand moved between them, and the pressure beneath her breast became screaming pain . . .

He slid the sword out and held her securely against him. She couldn't maintain her glamours, and she felt him shudder when he recognized the pale, naked woman in his arms. He smiled and pushed her hair away from her face with his bloodstained hand. His voice was laced with sadness, but not regret.

"So my angel was always under there."

I love this scene. It makes me cry every time.

lisabea said...

Oh I love that one!!!

Katie(babs) said...

I prefer M/Kate/M/M or M/Kate/M.
Or M/Kate/M/F.
Can you all guess the 3 men?
My favorite scene in Demon Angel has Hugh getting happy with Lillith and a closet door.

i really like the scene where i first read about hugh and 'crimson girl' together, in 'falling for anthony' when lilith has been trying to influence the mind of the heroine in the guise of the housekeeper (IIRC) and gives herself away by mentioning suicide, making hugh appear in a flash, sword at the ready. these characters were new to me, and i loved the way these old antagonists were both wary and somehow thrilled to confront one another again.

I read Falling for Anthony last, so when Hugh makes his dashing appearance, I was soooo into it. Heh.

Good one!

Hee! who says dramatic authors can't be funny!

I'm shamelessly in love with Ms Brook's Guardians, so please add me to the contest.

My favorite Anthony moment: in Caelum, when he dives and scrapes his knees when pulling out of the dive... then fetches against Hugh's legs and giggles.

lisabea said...

Azteclady~Sure thing. Wait til you read Drifter. sigh.

Oh yay! Thank you *grin*

I deleted my comment above after seeing how many typos I put! Sorry, MJ! Here is the corrected version:

PLEASE enter me. I'm reading Demon Moon right now and so into it! And there are so many great moments to choose from, but I will choose one that fired my imagination, probably because the action happened offstage, and it's excellent dialogue.

Hugh is speaking with Colin, some time after the steamy incident between Colin and Savi in Polidori's.
Colin: ...You sent the dog outside to protect her from me?

Hugh: Another deterrent, if needed. Perhaps you would have kissed Sir Pup.

Then Colin:

"Forgive me if I fail to see the humor in that." Those few moment with Savi atop him, her mouth pressed to his, had been some fo the sweetest of his life. Colin would not have them sullied.
Ice settled in Castleford's eyes, and he said, "It has taken me a month to see the humor in having to pry Savi away from you when you were at the edge of your control. Had we arrived but minutes later, what would've occurred?"

One of the pleasures of this novel is Colin's extreme temptation, and attraction to Savi, and his interior battle, and this scene was richly satisfying.
