A bunch of insane women have been playing a game now for 2 weeks. Desert Island (Hero) Keepers. The ideas is that we each get ONE turn per round to choose a romantic hero for our hut on a desert island paradise (or in my case, a 5 star cabana...class all the way at Club Nose). Once that hero is nabbed by a player, he is gone forever. BUT if you are savvy, you can outwit your friends and then make tradesies. There are 7 rounds....and that's as many turns and mens as you are permitted. Who knew how addictive this thing would become? The other morning I was driving home from Hartford, 2 large coconut coffees from D&D under my belt..mmmm...and my mind began to race. A little. Bit. I was thinking of Ally Blue, who got dissed and left in the dirt after round one, and of Samantha Kane, who is having a ball playing along. I wondered if anyone else out there in bloglandia, particularly authors, would be interested in playing.
Hi,
Currently 20 women (readers/writers) are involved in a death match over favorite heroes from romantic fiction. It's been going on for about a week and a half and has grown into a behemoth: 20 bloggers; 7 blogs; spectators; pot stirring fiends; 100's of comments a day; squabbling; back stabbing; threats. It's a wicked good time. I know that many of them are curious about who their favorite authors would choose to take with them on their own Desert Island.
I'd like to do a post of Author DIK's (Desert Island Keeper's) as part of the festivities. I'm inviting authors who have either been part of the MLM/NIAB experience (I'm such a dork) or are active participants in my ridiculous site. Monday James Buchanan and I are discussing qualities that make for a good hero in romance...so this will be a prelude to MLM. If any of you are interested in sending along 5 heroes (character, book, author), I'll post them on Friday and link back to your site. Easy Peasy. It's fun. I swear. And best of all, it's requires no work.
lb
Of course I emailed this out. I'm beyond control these days...and here is the excellent response...and a heap of books to give away.. that I received.
In no order what so ever cuz at 11:30 last night I lost this entire em effing post. NOT KIDDING. At 2 am, G said...er..Leeece? It's 2 am! Doh.
My comments are in blue...again, I have no self control.

The last two on that list are Vivien Dean titles. And Macaulay is the hero in a short novella we have coming out in July, though we've just started a novel-length story that will follow up on it. That's probably why I'm so in love with him right now, lol.

Ally Blue's List
Swamp Thing, naturally. It's not drugs, it's POTATOES! Kind of...(tater tots!)Edward from the Anita Blake series. I would SO spread for Edward. My GAWD the dangerous-killer thing makes my girl-parts all tingly. Is someone bringing Jean-Claude? Because those two are just gagging to do each other. (i heart u)
Ford Prefect (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy). He's not only The Smart One (relatively speaking), he's The Fun One. So, yeah. I always kind of wanted to be Ford Prefect, with the towel and the book and the slightly skewed world view. Hey, did you know there's HGTTG slash out there??? Very eye-opening, that O_O (lmfao)
Hell from Jet's Heaven Sent books. He's so awesome! I swear I want to keep him in my basement and pet him and brush his hair and dress him up in little outfits. Why are you looking at me that way???
The Doctor. Hey, if Jules can have a Torchwood guy, I can have THE Dr. Who guy. He and I will escape in the Tardis if the island gets boring :D

Josh Lanyon's List
Ralph Lanyon, The Charioteer by Mary Renault ( I need to read this book!!)

Sir Anthony Fanshaw, The Masqueraders by Georgette Heyer
Hey, I'm trying to be eclectic here!
Jet Mykles' List
Damn, that's a hard list to come up with. Here's my shot
Luc from my Purgatory (ok. Totally dig this dude.)
Radin from Dark Elves (what can I say, I LIKE my guys!)
Bruce Wayne/Batman (soooo popular)Jean Claude and Nathaniel from the Anita Blake series ( hey.is that cheating?)
Nathaniel and Galen from the Merry Gentry series are a toss up.
Meljean Brook's List

Nicholas Daventry, NO GREATER LOVE, Katherine Kingsley
Batman ( I DID NOT SEE THIS ONE COMING! heh. mwha)

LMAO
Jules Jones' ListLord Peter Wimsey, Dorothy Sayers
Miles Vorkosigan, Barrayar series, Lois McMaster Bujold (though he might be just a bit too *bouncy*) (bouncy can be good)
Ianto Jones, Torchwood (and before anyone says anything, let me point at the tie-in novels) (heh.heh. heh.)
Jack Fleming, the Vampire Files, PN Elrod
And I'll pick one of my own -- Richard from Spindrift, who is an absolute sweetie (unlike some of my heroes, whom I'd probably end up throttling within the week if I was trapped on a desert island with them).
J.L. Langley's List

Khan and Sobehk from Morgan Hawk's Fallen Star~(totally no brainer) 2 cocks a piece one pierced all to hell, both dominant alpha males (oh my god. that's a lot of pole dancing for our island. JL's going to need some sunscreen.)
Reese from Jet Mykles Purgator~he can do mathematical equations to try and get us off the island (of course with all those guys I'm not sure we'd wanna leave) and he can paint and make the place pretty
Leon from Ally Blue's Untamed Heart~he's a bad ass and can kill people so easily. So no one would piss me off with him around
Devon from LM Prieto's After Dark and After Midnight~I love his sense of humor and he's a werewolf. and I love ww's.
OK so there you have it folks.
I'd like to welcome JenB to bloglandia. Today is the grand opening of her new place. And I have a bag of treats to distribute at will. I'm so excited! I'm just going to randomly distribute books. Like the book fairy! See my wings!
Thanks to all my author pals for playing and thanks to Sam Kane who totally gave me this idea. She's my new bff. But not really (that's Adrien).

omg, a veritable TREASURE TROVE to bring to the island.
back later to comment in detail (running to meeting now) but I love our author's DIKs. Bwahaha. That sounds so dirty (i love it!)
Oh! How fun! And once again I feel as though I have read nothing. Almost all of these books are new to me. Oy! Thank God for Treva's inclusion of Frisco. He can come over and play with all of the Troubleshooters in my hut :)
Oooh, free books. I love books, but FREE books? They make me drool. Drool!!! And, of course, they would all be new authors for me! (My reading habits are going to cause me to file Chapter 11 some day.)
Good golly! Author DIKS! Yay! Those are some great picks and I see alot of books I need to put on my TBB list.
Sarah! I heart you for picking Alec from The Bride. OMG I love that book.
Ally? Swamp Thing! Awesomeness!
me me me me
*ahem*
Sorry, keyboard gremlins, yanno?
But I'd love to get some o' these. Save Demon Night, 'cause I have it. And The Adrien English Mysteries and The Hell You Say, 'cause I also have 'em.
But everything else, I'd be happy as a clam to get.
Really happy.
(by the way, you are both out of control and awesome, lb)
Oh, what great picks!
JL Langley: I don't know yours, but I like this idea of Khan and Sobehk plenty.
Jules Jones: Lord Peter Whimsey is BRILLIANT! I love him, too!
MJB: Joscelin, YES!
And Jet, I think Jean Claude is inspired. How did you end up with so many pairs? What is you plan?
Josh; TARZAN! You are a smart one, mister.
Ally Blue: Edward, excellent! A bit a danger there. Though he likes a pretty conventional girl, you know.
Vivien Dean: Heathcliff has been on my list lately. Nice.
Sarah M: Cowboys!
Pepper: Bruce is hot. Hotter in a tux than rubber.
Laura: Jake and Adrien. Finally together.
If you wanted to ban me from picking a Torchwood boy, you should have said so *before* I drew up the list. :->
This is so cool Lisabea! ....I can't believe how the DIK expanded like that!
and yay for free books, the only one i have is Demon Night, so please count me in!
Heh. lmao. I just saw this "Club Nose" Or as the French would say " Maison de Nez".
Hey LB... you shoulda picked the French rugby team for your hut. What? Not literary you say? Aux contraire! They have a calendar.
wOOt! JenB is blogging?? I didna know.
Awesome author picks! I just read My Fair Captain to see what the fuss was about. And allow me to say, I TOTALLY get it, now. Wonderful book!
Cool idea, LB! I love that meljean weighed in. Her heroes and JL Langley's seem to be causing the most consternation and hatefulness on the island. LOL! Little did she know what she wrote them that there would be panties dropping everywhere for them.
I told you that I just read Caine's Reckoning on the plane to San Francisco last week. I literally was sitting there blushing my ass off. LOL! I kept thinking, "Is it hot in here??"
ehem...or "when she wrote them."
Shit. More caffeine needed.
Kim- Oh.Holy.God. The naked French rugby team is burning hot. I am desperately trying to find one that matches a Brockmann hero so I can post it to my blog this month. Most of them are just too... well, not exactly military looking. Gawd! The tatoos!
SWAMP THING?!??!
Tarzan most definitely.
Alec from The Bride!!!
May have to pick some old school Julie Garwood menz....
Jules~No banning of the torch boy. We know how near and dear to your heart he is. I mean, I picked a girl for my cabana and I didn't get banned. And she's fricken heroic...
Sula~Treasure Trove! WHY DO WE NOT HAVE ANY PIRATES ON OUR LIST....Oh Captain Jack Sparrow...is there a book? Yes! A coloring book! I have one around here somewhere, I think....
Shannon~Oh nothing says friday like casual dress and a free book.
Azteclady~Please remember that I am fueled by Dunkin. I'm having one right now!
CJ~hehehe. See why I had to go eat my feelings last night?
Ana~Expansion in a DIK is a good thing.
Kim~Hmmm....the french rugby team, you say?
I have a pirate on my list. Because pirates are sexy, ARGH! My heart is breaking lb. I thought we had something special. But it's Adrien this, and Adrien that. If I didn't love him, I'd hate him. Sob. . .
Edward! And Jean Claude! I would f'ing love to see a sex scene between those two. Holy. Crap. I'm starting to sweat just thinking about it. Someone email LKH. I haven't read her last one. Is it in there?! I've already got Doyle, for whoever picked Galen b/c my brain is fried and I can't remember who picked what. These are all such great choices!
Glad I could help my not bff in some small way, lb. sniff.
OMG SAM!! When JC, Anita and Richard almost had their menage back in the days when I was loving this series, I wanted them to get their freak on so badly.
Now I think Anita gets busy with plants and rocks.
May I interject by saying that someone picked Han Solo and now I'm peeved that I didn't think of him. HAN! BETA! WISE ASS! So HOT.
K. Thanx.
Sam. You are my BFF (pt II) Sorry I forgot your pirate. Dang I haven't read that book!
Interesting choices. J.L.'s choice of Tarzan was inspired. And it looks like I'd have to fight Jet and Sam for any LKH characters. Although y'all can have Mistral cuz he BITES... HARD!
I haven't given it a LOT of thought, but I think mine would be:
Archeron & Savitar (from Kenyon's Dark Hunters)- dude, droolworthy gods. 'nuff said?
Rhys from LKH's MG series- nummy, with a sense of play
Micah from LKH's AB series- practical, and so secure in his alphaness that he doesn't feel like he needs to growl all the time
Vaughan from Madelynne Ellis' A Gentleman's Wager and Phantasmagoria-- there's not a woman or man he couldn't seduce if he put his mind to it
And, dammit, I'm picking an extra one--- Adam Black from KMM's Highlander series... or wait... maybe Drustan... or... oh, hell... I haven't even picked a werewolf yet... or a vampire.
I NEED MORE DIK CHOICES, DAMMIT!! MORE DIK!!
wasn't cheating. I pick JC and Nathaniel. I was just saying that it was a tough choice between Nathaniel and Galen because I adore them both so much!
*giggles at Ally's Swamp Thing*
Ally, I'm so sorry you got dissed from the DIK. How did that happen? We should be ashamed of ourselves for letting that happen!
To make it up to Ally, I think each of us should give up one of our men for Ally's hut.
::crickets::
These author DIK lists are amazing. I love the diversity.... and I think we can make rum... I mean, room for all of them.
LB thanks for expanding the DIK like this. ;o)
mmmmm, Mistral. Biting. Yes! Hey, it'd be handy to have a storm god along on a desert island, dontcha think?
Actually, Jet, don't forget the beautiful but psychotic CEL!! Maybe you could whip the Mean right outta him!
Dang. I never read those books...actually I haven't read a book since this madness began.
I love the DIK game. It's lots of fun watching you girls fight over your men. What an awesome collection of books to win here. I have Demon Night and I must say it is a fabulous read. Hi Meljean!
What an awesome DIK list. Seriously...some of these picks are amazing! Tarzan - holy crap what a great pick!!
Meljean - loved that she picked Daemon Sadi...he's my next pick...and if any of island bitches pick him first I'll burn down your hut and steal him back...just sayin.
And free book! Me want! The only one I've read of these is MJB's!
Ally Blue: Edward, excellent! A bit a danger there. Though he likes a pretty conventional girl, you know.
Nuh-uh! He only PRETENDS to like her to cover up his burning need to apply his man-bits to Jean-Claude's pearly backside!
**happily delusional**
Christine, you sweetie!
**hugs**
Nobody needs to give up their mens. Everybody needs to come over to my hut and party with me, the boys and the tater guy :D
Finally!!! Someone remembered Wolf! I love the man. I love all the Mackenzies, but without Wolf, them other ones wouldn't be here. Hehehe.
The Torchwood guys are awesome. The women too...hmmm...to have them all...
Speaking of Tarzan, anyone watch the Jungle Book live action with Jason Scott Lee? So. Hot.
I think Batman is a must have on any island.
Thanks for doing this LisaBea! ^_^
How wonderful! Maybe we should kidnap said writers to the island and put them to work writing stories of us and our men harems. ;) I'll bring the whipcream and the handcuffs.
So many new books to try! And if these authors love 'em, they must be good. I must expand my hut - it will not hold enough books.
I shall teleport one of the really pretty Andrew Carnegie libraries to the island to live in and put my men to work filling it with books. Mmmmmmmmm.
Men + books = love
This was so much fun; thank you for inviting us to play! I have to admit to having a tough time picking 5, though. Jamie was a no-brainer. LOVE LOVE LOVE him. Harry was almost as easy, but when it came to the rest of the list, I kept thinking of picky reasons to knock guys off, lol. Two of my other 3 I picked simply because they make me laugh so much as well as being hot. :)
Now, my personal list...at one point, I had 3 vampires on it. With 3 bloodsuckers, and only 3 humans, I decided the ratio wasn't that great. Plus, Jason is a werewolf, so he doesn't even count. So I knocked off the straight vamp and kept the two bi guys. And I figure Gideon is a good guy to have around for more than the sex. He'll do all the dirty jobs nobody else would want to do. :)
Vivien!!! Did lb mention how much I heart you for putting Jamie on the top of your list? hehehe. That man is just THE epitome of a hero, imho. yum.
She did! I cannot say enough wonderful stuff about Jamie; I compare almost every hero I read to him. Those books are half the reason I dragged my husband to Scotland so many times when we were living in the UK, lol.
THis is so awesome I love seeing what my fav authors would pick... HA HA I want Josh's second book for the love of god my house sitter took it and ran the bitch... *clears throat* anyway I shall never see it again and I need some Adrien fix. Amazon here i come.
Back on topic this is a cool idea LB great thinking! Oh and how could I forget my Rhett?
kb ~ I love Anita. I haven't read the latest one yet, but I hear it goes back to the early formula, less sex more bad vamps.
bev ~ Rhys. . . mmmmmm . . . Rhys
Mistral? Um, ow. Seriously. Ouchies.
lb ~ You luv me. You really do. (I'm waving my hands around like Miss America to keep from crying. I am so emotional right now!) I heart you back.
oh sam, you know who REALLY loves you.... yes, that's right. The one who brought a Sam Kane hero to the island. *ahem*
lb, I agree with Cap'n Jack. Perhaps we can arrange for our island to be the one he was stranded on? Maybe he's still there with his treasure trove of rum?
Vivien, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who contributed to the Scottish tourism economy as a result of Jamie. heh.
OOOohhhh! Bitch slapped by my Partner in CRIME! Well, I'm about to rectify that situation cuz I need Derek now. He will totally cheer me...I can throw coconuts at his head..and he can chase me along the beach and I'll let him catch me.
Sarai~I forgot to mention Josh's books are of the e variety..no one can steal them! Unless they steal your computer.
Little Alys~ Actually I need to thank all the authors who so kindly responded to my email. I think Everyone did! yay team!
Tracy~Nothing says harmonious living like a little arson, right? OMG what will we do next week?
Jill~Demon Moon is my all time favorite romance in the world. Have I mentioned that today?
hehehehe. lb, you know i luvs ya, but sometimes i get ornery. ;)
oooh, derek. you can bring him over to my hut for playdates with Ian.
Sula, you are ON. OMG. I love those two like a m/m book loves DIK.
Sula ~ You walked the walk. Ian and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And Derek will thank you from the bottom. Heh.
woohoo! playdate scheduled. lb, we can sit back and watch the um...play.
sam, I should know better than to read this stuff at work because that comment just made me literally laugh out loud. *looks over shoulder*
Oooooh, nice picks. Are they gonna be on *our* island? (Say yes.)
I fucking hate being sick. I'm gonna pout for the rest of the afternoon. *pout*
Oh, and I still don't like Jamie. The DIK ladies have fed me to the sharks, pummelled me with coconuts, and called me horrible names, but nobody can make me like him!!!!
(I'm sure I've disqualified myself from all the prizes now) *pouts some more*
But Jen, you are a ginger, so all is good.
BTW, the Josh books are mine. All mine. Stay the eff away.
Josh Lanyon's list is speaking to me which means I have to read his books. Three big nods whilst reading his list. The Charioteer (my inner teenager swooned again), Tarzan - superb choice (I've got a Tarzanesque hero too - Michael McNeil from Wild At Heart) and the Masqueraders (ah Georgette - I've also got a Heyer hero coming up....)
BUT but But Sam I had to make the big play for my Nate. Nate! mmmmm....nate......
Sula always gets the top.(But not NATE.or Jake..)
JenB~Are you on Nyquil??
If the top and bottom are taken, can I be in the middle?
T~is for Tarzan. I like it! Why have I not read the Charioteer. OK I am officially rectifying that situation.
hm.
lisabea- You're right, it's the authors whom indulge the crazy reader's whims and participate in this (increasingly) bloody game. Thank you authors!
JenB-I hope you feel better soon. Rest! Liquids! Medicine!
You know, no one has picked some of the characters I want to...hug. Does it mean I'm not reading enough ^_~? Probably.
BTW, I thought about picking Loose Id characters but I thought -- no, I'm the Mommy and if I pick one, I have to pick them ALL.
WHO was the character who watched his heroine-to-be pick up stuff from the drugstore and finally drew the line when she got the lubricating cream because he said no one needed it with him around? A Cruisie character? A Howard character?
Treva, that would be Open Season by Linda Howard with Daisy buying the box of colored condoms. Love that scene!!
Do I win a pony?
OMG Katie you are like the one who wins a title from das biotches of smartness. I'll dig around in my box of magical supplies (cough) and see what I can find.....
And Treva..I love your picks.
I am the queen of useless information and one smoking biotch :D
Nyquil? Am I sensing some snarkiness?
I haven't been able to eat anything today but animal crackers and sparkling water.
I'm cranky and I want JOSH BOOKS!!!
Best postage eva! I am in awe of JL, I read those a while ago and thought they were seeuper reading. She is a legend, 2 appendages an all, heh. Josh is very eclectic and I think I have just added a lot to my list of things I must buy! Very groovy post.
Sarah, dahhhhling, click on the link up top to read the excerpt J.L. Langley posted today...T.E.A.
You and I love those rough boys of hers. Mmmmm.
JenB..no I'm never snarky. Never. Just ask all my two friends. Sorry about your tummy. That makes me sad.
Oh! Cain, Lord of Radnor How could I forget him. *dramatic faint* I had a crush on him forever!
Sarah. DANG it. I haven't read that one either. I'm wondering what the freak I was reading all these years! Damn those classics and modern fiction selections. WHY did I not only read romance??
Awesome, awesome, awesome...*clears throat* Sorry about that.
I've got Meljean's book, but the rest...well, Hi! :)
Great choices and stuff.
LB-I just finished reading Cadeon's story by Kresley Cole. Um, yowzers on the hot sexin'. Whoo! *fanning self*
I went totally old school in my pick today over on KB/KJ's blog. Yay! :)
Oh, oh, will hop to immediately!
OK, that is one SMOKIN excerpt, all that pale skin. Merow. So looking forward to it coming out! I loves the red, red heads are just classy and super cool. Am I babbling???????
Sarah~I do so long for tales of gay regency in space.
What a fabulous list and idea Lisabea! I have lots of books still to gorge myself on if I want to read hot men...and I do!
Heh, you crack me up. I have longing too, maybe jonesing might be a better phrase for me. Write faster JL and fingers crossed the editors say it is released in June!
Hey I needed happy joy joy after yesterday's freak show at l.j.
Hi Marg!!! Thank-you. This post was brought to you by Dunkin Donuts. Mmmmm
You mean the brouhaha I left my moss green shirt on? That was truly bizarre.
The very next pony I get is yours, Katie. (I hope I haven't done something really awful by saying that...)
Hey LB the Adrien series are paperback that's how I read them I don't usually do ebooks b/c I sit at a freakin computer all damn day. I will occassionally make exceptions like for JOSH.
That's why I had to wait on MY FAIR CAP. it is now in print YAY!
OMG I am so tired of DIK... well not my DIK in my hut but the DIK that others might steal from me if I dont' snatch them up.
Where's my comment? Lisa, your mean blog ate my comment!! :-( I'm lazy and now I have to type it again. Sigh. Life is a bi***.
Anyway, just a quick note to say how much I enjoy following your DIK madness, even though I'm not part of it. I don't know half the heroes, so it sure broadens my horizons :-DDD And I have to agree with Ally's choice of Edward. Edward is the shit. Sooooo cool. He's not even my type, but I'd have chosen him too. If only to protect my other heroes from the greedy hands of the other girls (and some other heroes too) :-p.
I'm totally Edward obsessed! If I was Anita, I'd be all over that. IMHO, she is CRAZY not to jump his fine, stone-cold-killer bones.
LB, thanks for asking us to do this! It was FUN :D
Ally, I understand you. After I read OB, I went crazy for months searching for Edward/Anita fanfiction :-DDD The first Anita Blake books I bought in hardcover were all those that had Edward in them. I have re-read the Anita Blake books only for the Edward parts, the same way I've done about Butch and V for the BDB series. I'm a maniac. I was so happy to hear that Edward would be back in The Harlequin, then my bubble deflated completely when I realized he was barely an extra in it. A shadow of his former self. Gelded. I was so mad I returned the book to the store. Sigh. I love the real, icy, unpredictable and clever Edward.
Mary M you said everything I have thought of about the Anita Blake series. After Narcissus in Chains, I took all my Anita books and gave them away because just as LKH ruined the love after between JC/ Anita/ Richard, my love affair with them was over.
The other day, LKH blogged that Edward, Olaf, and Bernardo are in the ABVH she's writing now (the one that will come out next year).
Do any of you buy the ABVH comics? They had a "First Death" special edition which was the prequel to Guilty Pleasures-- where Anita and Edward take out Valentine (with flamethrowers- WOOT!) and also the first time Anita met Jean-Claude.
BTW, The Harlequin was a change of pace from the last few books-- only 4 sex scenes. Oh, and I'm in it-- both in the acknowledgements and I'm mentioned two places in the book as a vamp victim. In fact, my "death" is the catalyst for most of what happens in the book.
Sowwy, I just bought the mmp tonight and STILL get a major thrill even though I have an ARC and hardcover.
Does Anita still deny JC all the time?
Has she slept with every werewolf and vampire in St. Louis?
KB, nope-- she doesn't deny JC at all. She even had a "don't ask, don't tell" attitude about him and Asher sleeping together.
She's finally stopped fighting the ardeur and therefore doesn't have to feed it as often. So she tries to keep a fairly constant stable of men, but occasionally, like a diabetic, she runs into an emergency and has to grab whatever's available.
Having said all that though, I had high hopes for Blood Noir but even RT thought it was kinda sucky--- and not in a good way. I didn't land an ARC so I'll just have to wait till May 27th to find out for myself.
Oh, this is a nice catch up on LKH. I still think about that series. I brought the Killing Dance to the island. LKH holds a really important place in my reading pantheon.
Mary, I hear ya. I love Edward for his lethalness, I don't want a NICE Edward! LOL. I haven't even read a whole Anita Blake book since Cerulean Sins. I miss Edward, and I miss the old, butt-kicking-instead-of-fucking-everything-that-moves Anita. Sigh. But hey, if Edward (the REAL one!) is coming back, I am SO there. And Olaf? Oh HELL yeah. Edward and Anita need to nail Olaf's big scary ass to the wall, then Edward and Jean-Claude can get it on O_O
Ok I still haven't read those books. It is obvious I am a total tool.
LOL You are not! But the first few books are seriously awesome. Vampires, zombies, a cranky chick armed to the teeth with guns and knives... what's not to like?
I love Bloody Bones and Obsidian Butterfly. Especially OB since it's chock-full of Edward-ness *g*
I almost swooned when I saw Treva Harte's choice of Cain, Lord of Radnor from Bond of Blood. That was a book I re-read and re-read when it first came out. No time to do that now cuz I gots books every where.
I'm a fan of Khan and Sohbek too. I think that is Morgan Hawke's best book.
And who doesn't love Wolf Mackenzie?
Loved this. I have to say I've been trying so hard to stay away from the DIK heros because my 'To Do' list is strangling me as it is and you keep saying what a time sucker this is.
Damn it all anyway!!!
Jules! Jules! Jules! Miles freaking Vorkosigan! If I had been playing this game, which I have not been because of st00pid final exams, he would have been my first pick and I probably would have fought like hell to keep him in my hut or whatever, bounciness and all. Just for that, I am thinking I need to go buy one of your books!
*Ahem*
OK, I'm good now.
And I'm glad Sam Kane's Derek has made it onto the island. Jealous, but you know, I'll get over it. :)
I've been trying to figure out who besides those two characters I'd have brought if I were playing, and I keep coming back to men I liked in non-romance books... Like Christie Riddell from the Charles de Lint Newford books, or Vanyel Ashkevron from Mercedes Lackey's Last Herald Mage, and, uh, Sandor Clegane from George R. R. Martin's A song of Ice and Fire books. Or, hell, Brienne of Tarth from those same books because even though she is a chick, if any fictional character needed to be taken into a hut and pampered by hot men it would be her.
Dude, I was totally thinking of Vanyel when I was first trying to figure out who my heros would be. He was definitely a part of my growing up process. Pretty tame by m/m standards, but still he liked mens! :)
It is so hot and muggy here. I think I'm melting and it's not at all pleasant. *sniffle* Stupid weather fluctuations. *sigh* Oh well, it's supposed to be 70 on Sunday. *happy dance*
Hi Lisabea
I have been 'lurking' on your blog for ages but it took the lure of free books for me to out myself. I get the sense from your posts on JL's lj that you are a fanyon - watch out, he'll want you to buy 3 copies of each of his books. He already tried that scam on me.
My favorite guys are -
Nate (My Fair Captain)
Gaige and Keiran (The Draegan Lords)
Any cowboy from J.L. Langley's 'Ranch' series
I could go on but you get the idea.
Hope after all this I win a damn book!
jessewave~Checked out your blog last night! Yay for more man love reviews!!! Woot. And, er, yes...I believe the Nose crowd are not only Fanyons, but Funions as well. And THANK you for putting Nate first on your list. I mean....he's the bomb. Oh. My.
Bridget~Eat ice cream for the heat. And just because I'm really in the mood for it. Mint Chocolate chip...mmmmm.
Shannon C I MISS YOU. Ok. And I'm thrilled that you have a list, too. Heh. Shannon lurrrvves Derek! I'll send him over to your hut (and sula will share Ian because who on this planet has enough stamina for that man?? I mean, really?). Did you read snowball yet???? You have to flag me when you do.
Rosie~Always happy to derail progress! I guess with all this hooting and hollering over those Morgan Hawke men, I should take but the plunge, but those men scare me!
I think Ian may finally have met his match in the island of DIK, lb. At the very least he can be the designated hitter when you all tire the rest of the men out, lol.
Thanks Shannon C.! Derek may grumble, but you know he's secretly pleased that you all want to pass him around like man-candy.
I've heard good things about the Morgan Hawke books, too. Particularly Victorious Star. Must get through my TBR and TBW (To Be Written) piles first before adding more.
I'm buried under a couple of deadlines--so I'm not here, reading hundreds of DIK posts and comments, obviously--but may I say, I admire you guys' dedication, competitiveness, and sheer ingenuity?
(And Tarzan is still one of the (many) mainstays of my fantasy sex life)
Thought I'd snag the attention of one or two people with mention of Lord Peter and Miles. :->
Though some of my friends prefer Aral Vorkosigan. Miles has the edge for me, but I think his dad's pretty hot as well.
Lisabea
LOVED your review of Dangerous Ground - kind of puts mine to shame. I wish I had your gift of language then I would have a dynamite review site!!
I could tell that you're both a fanyon and funion.
I'll be waiting with bated breath to see if I won anything.
I just noticed a few minutes ago when I was lurking on your site that my blog is on your list. Wow - now I've arrived (not sure where, but it sure feels great LOL. Thanks
Have a great day.
What a BRILLIANT idea, Sweetbea -- loved seeing some of these choices.
And Jules, you totally had me at Lord Peter Wimsey.
Great stuff!
::wink:: thanks J. Sometimes I think, what the HELL am I doing??? And then I add more coffee...and things sort of, er, happen....it's a system that seems to be working.
Samantha KANE there is a rather gorgeous review of ALC over at Sybil's place. Written by none other than our Shannon C. yay for shannon! And for DEREK. Phew.
Jessewave~Well it was a bit gushy...but I did so enjoy those two alphas duking it out in the big forest...and then the hot tub....er...I mean the dialog was sexcellent. Wait. Excellent.Yup. That's what I meant.
Azteclady~What you mean is that we are out of our minds and are soon to be unemployed, right?
