There's Nothing Stupid About a Teenage Rabbit Teaching Good Hygiene

Uhm. When do you know if an idea is a good one?

Well. I finished the rough draft and my finger hovers over the send key. Today the wip goes for critique by the Lord of Painful Truth and I'm having DOUBTS. What was I thinking? Was it sexy enough? Fun enough? Too plotty? Am I repeating myself. AM I BORING? Did I homogenize myself? Did I offend transexuals? Have I lost my mind? Do people really have sex like that? Why do my Alpha men always use the word bitch in sex? What is WRONG with me????

Is this idea viable? Is it new? Why did I wait until page 95 for sex??!!?? OMG.

What the hell was I thinking?

You know, the typical doubt flare that chokes the 'artiste' moments before critique.

HOWEVER--this is my Adam Lambert moment--because despite the doubt, here's how I'm feeling babies.

The Wip Song.

So. Now that I've finished this draft...I need a book to read. I need a DAMN good book to read. Any suggestions? Something fun and fresh, dark and dangerous, or sexy and ridiculous. I need a good beach read. Nothing teary. Nothing deep. NO ANGST (I have plenty, thank you very much). Just a beach book.

Something with a girl.

Heh. Good Morning World!

Congrats my lovely LB! Keep in mind you finished your WIP. That is a great accomplishments. I am working on something where as I write I have major doubts about it, but I will treck on because that is who I am.

Something fun to read? Julie James' Practice Makes Perfect or Julia Quinn's What Happens in London. These books made me laugh and feel so good.

See? Great minds think alike, Kate! I was going to say, "You need to read Julie James, LBea." You'll love her. Wicked smart heroines, hot men, not over the top at all.

Practice Makes Perfect is just adorable. I think you'd love it. Plus you met her at RWA, you know how fab she is? Her books are even better. I'm just sayin'...

Back in the day, Janet Evanovich wrote category romances, and some of those were republished last year. If you look her up on Amazon, and then narrow it down to romance, you can see which ones they are. That would be something light and fun to read.

Well, I don't know about what a beach read is exactly. The book I'm currently reading is burn by Linda Howard. I'm not terribly far into it, but it's a bit of a page-turner if you're in a reading mood. Some things I just can't get away from. It is a bit angsty though, but not over-the-top, I don't think.

Have you read Gena Showalter's Seduce the Darkness yet? It was a lot of fun to read. I always recommend her books. :)

My iPhone 3G can beat your Palm Pre's ass and make it cry and it only costs a hundred bucks too. Noe if I could only dump the AT&T imbeciles servicing it I'd really laugh at you.

Julie James is Miss Popular! I will be on the look out. I'm actually wondering if I own it and haven't read it yet. Hm...must go digging.

And I love both Howard (particularly her old categories) and Evanovich.

Thank you everyone!

(Except Teddypig who knows that I have the better phone--and I had the free upgrade wassit. Plus also Sprint is my only option.)

PS~ I realize 'plus also' is redundant, but if you read Junie B Jones, you know it's a tribute.

Angst is my favorite thing ever. Just read Lisa Kleypas's Blue Eyed Devil. LOVED it. But if you insist, Dahl's Talk Me Down is sexy, girly, angst-free.

Manga I think. Crimson Spell! :)

I read a Kristin Higgins book a while back that was fun. I have both Julie James' books in my tbr because everyone raves about her. Same old lament. Too many books, so little time.

As for your WIP. Don' worry...be happy...

BTW, Jill is right. Kleypas contemporary Blue Eyed Devil is good and not too angst-y. Plus it takes place in Texas. Did you read the Evanovich? It was fun. Nothing to write home about but what you expect from the series at this point.

Hey you. Congratulations! I just finished my wip. We both hit the timetable, yes? Synchronize watches!

Fun read? I want to cry because I can't think of a damn thing. I've been so busy writing, and critiquing, and, um, being a critic, that I have nothing. Nada. But I'm going to the beach next week and I'm going to read, read, read. I'll get back to you.

Jill~I cannot believe I haven't read that Kleypas yet!! I need to do that. Thank you.

Sarah~Manga? Uhm...I was considering some comics...wink wink. Nudge.

Rosie~Funny you should mention the Evanovich. It's sitting right here. I'm also going to pick up the one Suze I haven't read. :)

Samantha~ HIGH FIVE!! WOOT! I'll be waiting for an update.
