Hiatus

My daughter comes home from Costa Rica tomorrow and then I'm off to RWA until the first of August. When I return, my life becomes a major push to catch up on the writing I'm embarrassingly far behind on--while taking my beloved son for college visits (North Carolina, Maine, Vermont), moving BigGirl back to Chicago (DePaul)--and being a good mom, wife, writer, and apparently, organizer of a major home remodel/rebuild.

My dance card is a little full. Ish.

This will come as no surprise but I'm taking the rest of the summer off from the internet. I'll check my email (daily) and my Facebook (occasionally), but until Labor Day, Nose In A Book will be quieter than normal. I'm on hiatus.

Have a good summer! And for those of you heading for Orlando--I'll see you in the bar (somethings never change).

Aspen Mountain Press Anniversary

Aspen Mountain Press is celebrating its fourth triumphant year as a respected and growing e-publisher but their readers are getting the gifts. From July 23rd to August 1st, AMP will be hosting numerous web events including chats, blog tours, and contests on Facebook and its Yahoo community loop. Not only will AMP be giving away masses of free book downloads, but loads of promotional items from its authors, gift baskets and even a Nook e-reader. As Aspen Mountain prepares to launch its new historical imprint, Aurora Regency, readers will be offered a sneak peek into the line with the sneak peek release of three new historical novels. Information about Aspen Mountain Press, Aurora Regency and the anniversary celebration can be found here and here

**July 26th: meet our M/M Authors and their fabulous books at Raine Delight's Reader Loop from noon-8 PM ET.

Yes that's the day before I leave for RWA. Yes I will be packing and feverishly finishing my book(s). Yes it's the day BigGirl comes home at last! Yes I will attend the loop. Well, I'll be in and out. Buh-dump-dump CHING!

PRIZE

My Men of Smithfield books made their home with Aspen and so, as most of you know, I'm very fond of AMP. To celebrate the 4 year Anniversary, they're giving away some of books (some are my books) for free (somewhere in the madness--my boss is in charge of that so click the above links)--but if you pass the AMP party messages on with the links and link back here by July 25th 11-pm EST, I'll put you in a drawing for a three (3) book give away of your choice from Aspen Mountain Press. *not to exceed twenty dollars, peeps.**

I'll post the winner on the 26th by midnight. Thanks for spreading the good word--and if you have a second, let me know which Aspen title is your favorite. Mine is the book that started this slippery slope in the first place: Snowball In Hell by Josh Lanyon.

Sort of Funky

I'm listening to a lot of Cake--and writing. I finished 8K only to realize I was in the wrong POV. D'oh. Today is the day I change all that, so I'm writing--and repairing--and listening to Cake (who will be here Thursday and I want so badly to go see them).

I sent littlegirl to camp for two weeks. I cried on the way home. I felt bad--like I'd sent her away just so I could write these two short stories, when in truth, I sent her away so that she had something to do for two weeks and wasn't alone with Mrs. Crabby-Pants. The Boy is working full time, and BigGirl doesn't return until the 26th. So littlegirl is living la vida loca at a local all girls camp.

I miss her. Day one and I'm maudlin. What a loser.

G is travelling this week as well--so it's time for LB Gregg to sink like a stone into these new stories and get 'er done. Up first is a tiny novella for Christmas, we'll see if that one finds a home **crosses fingers**, but it's the story I need to tell today. And then I'm on to Dudleytown (tentative title) and that's obviously the Halloween story (all you folks who love best-friends-to-lovers stories take note** ).

That's the word on Lisabea Street. I'm writing straight through 'til RWA.
