I just want to update my friends and followers here--before people wonder if I fell off the face of the earth. I haven't facebooked, tweeted, blogged or emailed in a days.
Alert and alone, he was pinned in the storm until another driver eventually found him. I can only imagine his pain and fear as the extent of his injuries became apparent, and his sense of helplessness as the volunteer firemen worked for an hour and half in the falling snow to saw the roof off his car and extract him.
On Sunday morning doctors made some tough decisions in order to save my brother's life. If he survives the next week or so, and by all rights he should, he has a difficult journey ahead. His fever is high, he's broken to bits, but he's a tough old bird.
___________
G is back and forth, here and there, and in and out of the country over the next few weeks. I have my hands full ferrying my mother to and from Rhode Island, talking to long lost relatives on the phone, keeping up with the kids, and trying to get the house plans moving forward. I'm not ignoring you--I'm juggling.
I'm also doing a lot of praying.
Two things: I came home from the hospital on Monday and a box of books was on my doorstep. Catch Me If You Can is hitting the shelves in a couple weeks. The books are beautiful and I was thrilled despite everything going on here to hold those books in my hands. I'm not sure if that's appropriate, but there it is. Catch Me in print--with a cover blurb by KA Mitchell. Thank you everyone out there, and thank you to Samhain for believing in Caesar and Dan.
Secondly--I have a new email addy, although the old one works too. lbgregg at lbgregg dot com.
Think positive thoughts for my brother and his family, and remember to wear your seatbelt.
