It's a beautiful day here in the hills. Sunny and warm, with low humidity. The corn is high, the birds are singing, and my pool pump is chugging along. It's the perfect summer day to spend outside, squinting at my computer screen.
So there's a big storm brewing off the Carolina Coast. Along with my friends in Long Island and NYC, Western CT is centered right smack in the bullseye. Irene doesn't scare me too much, not yet anyway, but at forty miles from the Sound, let's just say that I have a few things to pick up at the store. (Wine may be on that list).
I'm writing about snow and loneliness and the bleak midwinter. And today, I'm thinking about Mr. Lyle Lovett, of all people. It's an old song, but it stands the test of time for this listener. Another WIP song for the list.
Enjoy and to all my East Coast friends--seek higher ground.

Hi L.B.! I habitat a house here in Redding and I'm worried about the basement. *sighs* Good thing I never moved to Westport; I would've been scared out of my wits otherwise.
How's the writing going? *grins*
Snow? We had snow last week. It was insane. Apparently snow has not fallen here so heavily since the 1930's. Cazy and I loved it. Enjoy the sun and I hope the weather does not prove to be too ghastly.
PS. Loved the clip from the onion. Hilarious.
Beatrice--I expect a river in my basement, too. Careful of downed trees in Redding. That's what I expect here.
I think I'll get G get fuel to fuel up the chainsaw.
Writing is slow but steady, thanks. I seem to always be at the 'what happens next?' spot.
Sarah-My son posted that clip on my facebook wall. My mom facebook wall, that is. Cheeky little bugger.
I miss you. Funny to see you here because I had a half written email to you the other day. I'll send it!
